Fireplaces

Are you considering installing a gas fireplace?

THEN YOU WILL NEED A GAS LINE RUN TO IT AS PART OF THE INSTALLATION

Do you currently have a fireplace/chimney in your house that isn't being used, and you'd like to add a gas fire to it?

You can purchase your preferred log set/burner online from Amazon or in-person from a big box chain or fireplace store. Once you have your set, West Michigan Gas Piping can come to your home and assess the line for your fireplace (for example, we can use an existing ash shoot and run a line that way).

Or, if you're working with a licensed fireplace installer to install a brand new fireplace, we can work with them to run a line to the new fireplace's location as well.

LOG LIGHTERS FOR WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACES

If you have a wood-burning fireplace, we may be able to install a line that auto lights your wood for you. With a log lighter, the heat goes up and will begin to warm/ pre-heat your chimney. This helps prevent backdraft when you're first starting a fire and your chimney isn't warm yet, causing smoke to come into your house rather than rising through the chimney. It will also ensure your fire stays going for longer.

It's important to note that this method only works on traditional fireplaces with fire brick on the inside. Some factory built fireplaces are not accessible. However, if you have an older, built-in fireplace, it's likely that you can add a log lighter.
