Gas Dryers
Are you installing or replacing a gas dryer?
THEN YOU WILL NEED A GAS LINE RUN TO IT
If you currently have an electrical dryer but want to switch to a gas dryer, our team can do a visit to your home to see if this is possible. However, running a complicated gas line could potentially cost you $1,000 on top of the price of the new dryer. (For example, if you're installing this dryer in your finished basement and the range is in a different part of the house from any other gas appliances, it may be more difficult and we may need to cut into drywall.)
That's why we recommend you evaluate all the costs before buying a new gas appliance. If you do decide to go ahead with a gas dryer purchase or replacement, our team would be happy to come out to your home and hook it up to your gas line.
IS MY CURRENT GAS LINE UP TO CODE?
For houses built in the early 70's or before, we recommend checking behind your dryer for a copper colored or aluminum/silver colored pipe/line. These lines are typically uncovered and may need to be upgraded for your safety.
West Michigan Gas Piping uses stainless steel lines of varying diameters. These lines are jacketed in a black covering in the case of lightning strikes.
