Pool Heater

Are you considering adding a heater to your pool?

THEN YOU WILL NEED A GAS LINE RUN TO IT AS PART OF THE INSTALLATION

It is most efficient to put the pool heater as close to the house and a gas meter as possible so that we can run a simple gas pipe. However, pool installers typically set their equipment far away from the home, so most frequently we will need to trench and run a line out to a remote location. This placement is purely for aesthetics and lack of noise, and will depend on the pool location and the pool contractor. Some local pool installers we work with are conscious of where they put pool equipment while others prefer the equipment as far away as possible.

Regardless of location, the pool equipment stays together and sits on a 8x10 pad.

POOL HOUSES OR POOL SHEDS

Pool heaters need proper ventilation. In the case that your pool equipment is being stored in a pool house or shed, we need to ensure that the fumes are vented out of that building - either out the side or through the rough. In order for the heater to work properly, there also needs to be enough air coming back into the structure.

The good news is that if West Michigan Gas Piping is running your gas lines, we will take care of the venting as well!

OPTIONS FOR ABOVE GROUND POOLS

In above ground pools, the pump and heater are typically around the backside of the pool, away from the house. However, this is a matter of cost and preference.

  • If homeowners are willing to put their pool equipment next to the generator, it may only cost $1000 to install the gas lines.

  • Having the pump and heater away from the house is generally an aesthetic decision

  • Homeowners don't want to see it or hear it. However, this can cost around $5000.

Depending on what company is installing your pool, we will either follow behind the installation team and do the gas line installation while they're on site and start up the heater with them or they will connect us with you and we will come out to your property to hook up your gas line after they have set up the equipment.

LOOKING TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL GAS GRILL OR FIRE FEATURE?

If a homeowner wants to add a gas grill or a fire feature, we can run the gas line to the pool area/heater location and then individually valve and run lines to the grill and/or firepit.

Our goal is always economic goodsense and functionality. Therefore, we like to give homeowners the options (and the pricing) and let them decide:

  • Individually shutting things down allows us to isolate the firepit and grill in the winter, for

  • service, or if there's a leak, etc. without having to shut off the pool heater line. (Not allgas line installers may think this way, but we consider this a best practice!)

  • However, we do install T's when it makes sense or when the homeowner chooses it.
